No Txt Worth Dying For

About the Campaign

Would you drive blindfolded? No way. But you've done it. In fact, you might do it every day. It might seem like no big deal to shoot off a quick text telling your friends when you'll be there or what you're doing. But while you text your eyes are off the road and you are driving blind. Scary. Maybe you don't send messages, but you do read Facebook updates or emails occasionally. It's not like you're driving drunk.

In fact, it's worse than if you were driving drunk. Studies report you're six times more likely to cause an accident while texting and driving than getting behind the wheel intoxicated. The reality is, if you keep texting and driving, there's a huge chance you may never make your destination.

Here are the Facts

  • 63 percent of drivers under the age of 30 acknowledge using a handheld phone while behind the wheel.
  • Currently, car accidents are the leading cause of teen deaths and nearly 5,500 people in the U.S. were killed in distracted driving accidents in 2009.
  • Texting while driving causes a 400 percent increase in time spent with a driver's eyes off the road and increases the likelihood of an accident by 23 times.
  • For every six seconds of drive time, a driver sending or receiving a text message spends 4.6 of those seconds with their eyes off the road and 4.6 seconds is enough time to travel the length of a football field at 55 mph.

Skull Church is dead serious about saving souls, and now we are issuing a challenge to save lives on the road. Honor His sacrifice--don't text and drive. It could end a life He died to save.

We believe that No TXT is Worth Dying For. And we have created Skull Church thumb rings to wear on your texting digit as a reminder of that fact. When you are tempted to use your phone while driving the skulls will remind you that Jesus died for something worth while--the sins of the world. Chances are whatever you are about to do on your phone isn't worth dying for.

We're challenging you to make the commitment to not drive distracted. Right now. And if you don't live near Skull Church we would be honored to send you a thumb band, free of charge as a reminder of that commitment. We just ask that you would consider a gift, of any size, to cover shipping-and-handling and further the mission of Skull Church.
